What is now being popularly called as "Kanye's Douche Moment" happened in the middle of the acceptance speech of Taylor Swift, the winner of the Best Female Video of the Year award. When Taylor's name was called, Kanye got off his seat as well, presumably to help Taylor get on the stage, as Taylor at that time was wearing a voluminous prom dress style outfit made especially for her by Vera Wang. Upon getting on the stage, Taylor graciously accepted her Moonman and began her acceptance speech.
"Thank you so much!" Swift said. "I always dreamed about what it would be like to maybe win one of these someday, but I never actually thought it would happen. I sing country music so thank you so much for giving me a chance to win a VMA award."
Before she could continue, West broke in. "Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!" Kanye shouted.
No one could have painted the utter look of surprise and mortification that crossed Taylor's pretty face while she helplessly stood there in her voluminous prom dress style gown as Kanye West took her moment from her and turned it into the "Kanye's Douche Moment". But at this point, Mr. West was just beginning.
As if cued by the baton of a master orchestra conductor, Beyonce's Single Ladies began playing. To everyone's amazement, Kanye then ripped his velcroed clothes off in one clean, choreographed movement, revealing the sexy bikini garment he was wearing underneath, an almost exact replica of the garment Beyonce wore in her Single Ladies music video. Kanye then began performing the Single Ladies dance routine on the stage, squealing in obvious delight at his own antics.

Kanye West: I've Always Wanted To Do It
Kanye West literally got a public beating at the MTV Video Music Awards last night after he interrputed the acceptance speech of Best Female Video of the Year winner Taylor Swift. In a later interview with Randy Jackson, one of the hosts for the evening, he said that there were no indications whatsoever that Kanye would do what he did, as he looked super cool and was even smiling at the cameras all throughout the night, at least up to the point when he did what he did.
"I talked to him backstage right before the show began. He seemed ok then. I even asked him if he had any favorites for any of the award categories, be he just shrugged his shoulders and smiled at me", added Jackson. Another guest said that West "looked normal, albeit a tad too perky". The guest then claimed that he even heard Kanye humming a song that sounded like Beyonce's Single Ladies. "Yeah, it really seemed like he was in a really good mood at that time."

West would've finished his whole dance routine, had he not been hit on the face by a red stiletto, one of the many articles of footwear thrown at him by the angered audience. Dazed, he was then seized by two security personnel and whisked off the stage.
Despite all this though, the night ended on quite a happy note. When Beyonce came up to fetch her own Moonman for Video of the Year, she invited Taylor onstage so that she could finish her interrupted acceptance speech. Taylor then gladly came up and thanked Beyonce for her generosity. After Taylor finished her speech, she shook hands with Beyonce, and then as if cued by the baton of a master orchestra conductor, Beyonce's Single Ladies began playing again. The two award-winning singers then enthusiastically performed the dance routine of Single Ladies, much to the delight of everyone.

Meanwhile, in an ambush interview with Kanye after the show, he said that dancing to Single Ladies while wearing bikini on stage in the middle of an awards ceremony was something he had always wanted to do. "Too bad I wasn't able to finish my dance routine. They should have thrown the shoes at the end of the song", were Kanye's sad parting words.
