"That
man always watches the games alone", says Skit Maples, a hotdog vendor who has
seen the man countless times to know that he is some kind of an outcast.
"There's this usual place that he sits at, and he always looks very sad every
time I see him." "He would stand up and cheer every now and then, but the look
on his eyes stays the same. We kinda assumed that something tragic has happened
to him and watching the games is his way of coping up."
And
most of the time the spot beside him stays vacant. It's as if other people can
feel his negative energy and do not want to be pulled down by it. "He doesn't
mind sitting there alone. I think he prefers it that way", adds Skit.
So
it was a complete surprise when Jessica Alba chose to sit beside him. "When she
[Jessica Alba] saw that vacant spot beside the lonely man, she didn't hesitate
but instead went straight to sit beside him."
The lonely man at first looked uncertain whether to let Jess sit beside him or not. But Jessica's smile completely broke through the man's reservations. Upon sitting down, Jessica offered him beer, which the man gladly accepted. And even before the games started, the guy was already laughing. Throughout the game, they both cheered for the Dodgers, which they both very much wanted to win.
"It
didn't look like anyone could make that guy smile, much less laugh. I guess we
were wrong."
The Dodgers lost the game, 9-0.
